We appreciate your patience as we stabilize Connaught Apartments after Monday’s devastating fire. We understand these are very challenging times for all the residents and our Team is working around the clock to get things back in order.

Residents who had their curtains removed and taken for dry cleaning are expected to have them back March 21, 2022.

The elevator has been serviced to repair the squeaking noise.

We have ordered some new patio furniture that will arrive for Spring and it can be enjoyed in the outdoor area behind the pool.

The restoration company continues to be on-site and is currently focusing on the abatement of the 4th floor. Their hours of work will fall within the city guidelines of 7:30am to 8:00pm on weekdays and 10:00am to 8:00pm on Saturdays https://vancouver.ca/your-government/noise-control-bylaw.aspx

Shaw cable has repaired all their wiring that was damaged in the fire.

We are pleased to advise that Samy Rezkalia has joined the MetCap Living Team at 1255 Pendrell Street as Assistant Resident Manager. Samy will be working on-site Monday to Friday from 1pm to 5pm.

All your maintenance requests should continue to be submitted through the my-community resident portal as this is the best way for us to manage communication. Please do not text maintenance requests. If you are unable to use the portal, we will be more than happy to enter your maintenance request in the portal on your behalf or provide you with assistance.

Resident curtains have been picked up for dry-cleaning, we will advise on a return date shortly.

Shaw cable is repairing lines that were damaged in the fire, completion date unknown.

  • Restoration company remains on site doing lite cleaning of suites (windows, door, walls and floors as needed), where waivers have been submitted.
  • If you want your suite cleaned, please fill out a waiver form at the management office or for your convenience please download the form on the website and submit to 1255pendrell@metcap.com
  • Residents of the 2nd and 3rd floor have returned to their units while we determine next steps. If there are dehumidifiers or fans in your apartments please keep them plugged in and on. When we receive a schedule for restoration work in your suites we will contact you all individually (not before March 3, 2022)
  • We continue to work individually with the following units to determine next steps: 401, 402, 403, 404, 406, 408, 508. The fourth floor will remain sealed for an undetermined amount of time while contractors start remediation.
  • If you require maintenance or have any questions or concerns, please submit through email to 1255pendrell@metcap.com or through the my-community portal. We ask that you do not submit requests direct to the restoration company.
  • If you have ORIGINAL curtains from the building and need them dry cleaned please inform us at 1255pendrell@metcap.com by Wednesday March 2nd at 4pm. The restoration company will require access to your suite on March 3rd to pick up curtains and take for dry cleaning.
  • If you have dry cleaned your curtains, please summit your receipt to 1255pendrell@metcap.com for reimbursement.

  • Waste bin has been extended on-site until February 22, 2022, please continue to dispose of items.
  • Exterior cleaning is complete, exterior paint touch-up’s will be done in the Spring when weather permits.
  • Hotel stays have been extended for the following units until February 25, 2022:

o 206, 207, 208, 307, 308, 401, 402, 403, 404, 406, 408, 508

  • A large waste bin will arrive on site February 9th and will be located at the back of the building. This waste bin can be used by residents to clear any items that need to be disposed of. The waste bin will be onsite until February 15, 2022
  • Exterior cleaning of the building mobilized today. Please be advised there will be contractors working on the exterior of the building for the remainder of the week.

Friday, February 4, 2022

  • Cleanup and repair efforts are continuing at the site.
  • We believe the following units are not currently ready for return. For the units listed below, we have extended your reservations at the Sandman Hotel until the morning of Tuesday, February 8th, 2022.
    o 508, 808, 908, 1008
    o 401, 402, 403, 404, 405, 406, 407, 408
    o 304, 306, 307, 308
    o 201, 203, 204, 206, 207, 208
  • Residents of all other units may now return to the building. Upon your return you may encounter some water or smoke damage. Once you have inspected your apartment, please contact the building manager if you have any concerns. We recognize a number of units will require cleaning and repairs. We will be attending to this as soon as possible.

Thursday, February 3, 2022

  • All residents staying in the hotel have had their stays extended until noon on Friday, February 4th
  • Residents living on floors 6 through to the penthouse may return to your units on Friday, February 4th
  • Residents living on floors 2 through 5 will have your stays extended until at least Saturday. These residents will be contacted individually on Friday, February 4, 2022 after 3pm for future planning.
  • Common area cleaning and air scrubbing continues
  • Air sample tests results are good. Extremely low levels for hazardous particulates were found throughout the building, except for the 4th floor. The 4th floor has been sealed for repairs.
  • Soot lift samples taken throughout the building are clear of lead and asbestos.
  • All suites at 1255 Pendrell Street will be inspected by Management on Friday, February 4, 2022, starting at 10am, notices have been posted
  • The schedule for individual suite cleaning of floors, walls and ceilings, where needed, will be announced in the coming days

Wednesday, February 2, 2022

  • Hallway carpet cleaning is completed from 6th floor to the penthouse
  • Deep cleaning of all hallway walls and common areas will commence on Feb 3rd
  • Air scrubbers continue to be utilized throughout the building and in some individual suites on the 06, 07 and 08 lines

Tuesday, February 1, 2022

    • Initial equipment set up

o Air scrubbers set up and running in all common hallways from 2nd for to 16th floor
o Air scrubbers running in all 08 and 07 units, also added scrubbers to the 06 units up to the 8th floor
o Monitor air quality and odour

    • Hygienist engaged
    • Air handling & cleaning

o Air handling unit to the building shut down and cleaning to take place starting February 3, 2022. This is to prevent any further particulate/soot from travelling further through the building.

    • Common hallway carpets cleaned

o Carpet Cleaning commenced February 2, 2022 to clean all carpets from the 16th floor to the 6th floor.

    • Elevator inspection and elevator pit cleaning conducted
    • Temporary power

o Electrical company engaged to supply temporary power to the common hallways to allow the air scrubbers to run without blowing the breakers. Temporary panels have been installed and will be removed once all sir scrubbers are no longer needed.
